Next Debt Paid Off

August 9th, 2018 at 08:34 pm

Paid of my iPhone. When I called, they sort of tried to talk me out of it by telling me I would not be eligible for an upgrade if I paid off my loan. The representative actually said, "Are you sure you want to do this?" OMG!!! Crazy.

Anyway, with this payment gone, our debt snowball is now bigger than our next debt, so some will go on the following debt as well. With that in mind, I'm looking for all the extra money I can find to see if we can pay of two debts in August.

Have been doing some Field Agent stuff, and have $24.40 that I will try to cash out, and found some more jewelry for the pawn shop. Would love to find enough money to take out the next *two* debts in August!

How come you don't list the actual amounts? It is more satisfying as a reader to watch numbers tick downward and cheer you on, then to see just vague amounts.

Congrats on another debt payoff. (Insert pat on back here.)

As for the customer service representative, what you are doing by paying off all your debts is probably weird to them because of two possibilities: 1) they have never seen anyone do that before or 2) they were hoping to sign you up for another 2 years with a different phone. Maybe both.

Are you starting with lowest balances first, or what order are you going in?

congrats on paying off another debt and hopefully you can pay off another 2 like you want to. Yes I think having amounts written up and seeing them come down is so much more rewarding....just like with savings. Good luck hope you reach goal this month

None of my numbers are very exciting, so I didn't really think anyone would be too interested, but if it makes it better for anyone who reads this, I'll get them in there. :-)

I am going with the lowest balances first. The largest is the truck payment, and that would take forever! I love seeing the debts colored in on my nifty chart, so this way definitely keeps us motivated.

As for the phone, yeah, it was so strange. I'd love one of the new red iPhones, but my 7 Plus needs to hold me over for a bit.

Thanks for all the encouragement. :-) I will get my numbers in next week for anyone who is interested.

Way to go on paying down some debts!

As far as the phone and the fact the rep said you aren't eligible for an upgrade, just exactly how they keep people on the merry go round of constantly owing for a new phone and being tied down to the service. Years ago when we paid off the mortgage, the gal said, how about applying for a home equity loan to fix up your house now that it is paid for? I smiled and said, "No, thanks!" I thought, this is one merry go round I don't want to stay on.

Wow! I can't believe they asked you to get another loan right after you paid one off. Just like with the phone conversation, I find it just incredible.

I don't find it so incredible that either a loan company or a phone company would offer such a thing, but that a lot of consumers will fall for that.

Yeah. You're right. They make their profit from our interest, so, from their POV, of course they are going to ask!
