Living Social *deal*?

March 10th, 2011 at 01:43 pm

I've never purchased anything from Living Social, but earlier this week they had a pizza deal for a place I've wanted to try, and you got $2 extra dollars off if you watched the trailer for a new television show. I thought I was getting a good deal - $20 gift certificate for $8.

I checked my account this morning, and there is $10 'processing' and $8 and $10 charges listed as holds, all for Living Social. Maybe it will be fixed, but in the meantime it's on my mind and aggravating me. What's the problem? Charge me the $8 that showed up at checkout and be done with it. I don't understand why there are many different charges/holds (3) on my account for one purchase.

I've only bought one living social deal...which was for Amazon.com, and it worked out fine. I would definitely keep tabs on your account though.

I've bought both a gift card for Amazon.com and a CiCi's Pizza one from LivingSocial, and I've never come across the fee that you are describing. Maybe it was just that deal?

Thanks. I'm glad to hear that others have used Living Social without any problems, hopefully my account will be settled by tomorrow.

My post may have sounded confusing -- my bank is processing the $10 (along with two half.com deposits), and the $8 and $10 are listed as holds. I'm not sure what the difference is between the two, but I don't think I got charged any extra fee from LS.

GNC did that to me when I ordered vitamins. There was a hold when I ordered, then they billed when the shipment left. The following day the first charge was reversed. Miffed me though, since it was my checking account/debit card!

I've bought several deals through living social with no problem.

You are all right, thankfully! Today, all the holds are gone, and there is just the $8 charge on my account.
